Kasaragod: Lakhs swindled in cow distribution scheme in Kasaragod, Karaduka and Muliyar panchayats. The scam involves a scheme to subsidize the purchase of a cow. The complaint alleges that Dairy Farm Inspector Binu Mon, the project’s executive officer, committed fraud. The subsidy is half of the price of a cow or a maximum of Rs. 30,000 per person. But the scam came to light when many people complained about not getting the subsidy.

The fraudster transferred the money to the accounts of ten of his close associates. As soon as the money arrived, they withdrew and gave it to Binumon. The subsidy amount was transferred to the account of the owners but some of them were given small sums to dust off in the eyes of the applicants. After confirming that the cow was purchased, the amount to be paid into the seller’s account was paid directly to the applicant. But most did not get a single rupee.

The block panchayat president and others lodged a complaint with the vigilance against the officer. Karadukka Block Panchayat President CG Mathew, Muliyar Panchayat President PV Mini and Karadukka Panchayat President K. Gopalakrishna has now lodged a joint complaint with Vigilance. The MPs hope that the vigilance probe will reveal more details of the scam.
