Coimbatore: A complaint has been lodged against Bharatiyar University for appointing college principals as chief assessors against the rules.
Under the control of Bharatiyar University, distance education movement is functioning. On this behalf, educational centers are being run in various districts.
The professors working in the colleges under the control of the university are appointed for the work of correcting the answer sheets, where the examination is conducted at regular intervals. A leader will also be appointed to supervise them.
Till now, only senior professors were appointed in this role. Currently, complaints have been raised that college principals are being appointed without following the norms including seniority. Apart from this, there has been criticism that people who are members of the governing body are also being appointed for this responsibility.
Violation
University Teachers Union State President Thirunavukarasu said, “There are rules that people who are members of the governing body should not undertake large-scale work.” have been employed in spite of it. Among the teachers taking the subject, only the senior one is eligible for the headship. How can you appoint a college principal who is in charge of administration? What experience they will have in editing the answer paper. Pointing these out, we wrote a letter to the Vice-Chancellor; There is no answer to that,” he said.
Honorary position
University Vice-Chancellor Kaliraj said, “Usually university professors are employed in this role. This time the members of the governing body were given the responsibilities as an honorary post.
Apart from university professors, two were appointed to the post-graduate department from outside colleges. Two were appointed in the junior section of our member colleges. Based on the complaint, it has been decided to appoint university professors, he said.
