The Vatican’s Department for Integral Development reminds us that tourism must be holistic and environmentally friendly.

This was stated by the Vatican department in a message issued in connection with the observance of World Tourism Day on September 27.

Recalling that the day has adopted the theme of “Rethinking Tourism”, the message explains that tourism should be about building fraternity and social camaraderie and above all enabling holistic development.

The message also refers to the effects of tourism on the environment.

The message, referring to the resumption of tourism, which had stalled following the Covid-19 pandemic, urges that tourism should take into account the holistic appeal of the human person.

The message also makes it clear that the Catholic Church is very keen to promote this innovative vision of tourism, with the goal of holistic human development.
