The organization confirmed that 167 surgeries were performed on patients linked by relationship to workers at the facility, bypassing the waiting lists.
The Los Lagos Regional Comptroller’s Office detected a series of irregularities in the management of waiting lists at the Ancud Hospital, where the preference given to family members of officials when performing surgical interventions stands out.
In its audit, the agency found that 167 surgeries were performed on patients linked by relationship to workers at the facility, thaving a shorter waiting time to enter the ward than the general average by specialty.
Given this, the Comptroller’s Office specified that it will initiate a summary to determine possible administrative responsibilities. In addition, “the healthcare facility must guarantee that the inclusion of patients on waiting lists and effective surgical intervention is carried out in strict accordance with the regulations.”especially when constitutional guarantees prohibit establishing arbitrary differences between people.”
Along with this, the institution detected that two professionals were not registered in the National Registry of Health Providers and, in addition, they did not have authorization from the Ministerial Secretariat of Health of Los Lagos to work at the Ancud Hospital.
