The Comptroller General of the Republic detected a series of irregularities in the management of waiting lists at regional hospitals in Talca and Antofagastawhere the presence of “false deaths” stands out.
The agency detailed that the non-GES waiting lists were reviewed at the Dr. César Garavagno Burotto Regional Hospital in Talca; and the Doctor Leonardo Guzmán Hospital in Antofagasta, where found erroneous notes, people registered as being cared for after they died and patients detected as “treated” without any record.
In the case of the Talca Hospital, 56 deceased patients were detected, who received 58 specialized medical care and even surgical operations on dates after their death.. Added to this is the removal of 1,085 patients from the waiting lists, but their RUTs do not appear in the Civil Registry and Identification Service (SRCeI).
In view of this situation, an investigation was ordered to determine administrative responsibilities and they were given a period of 60 days to correct the observations detected by the Comptroller’s Office.
Regarding the Antofagasta Hospital, The Comptroller’s Office established that two patients removed from the waiting list due to “deaths” were actually alive, as confirmed by the health facility itself.
In addition, there were 19 patients who were removed from the registry for “care provided”, without there being any record of this care having been provided. In addition, it was determined that there were 12,537 records on the platform used at the regional level (RRLE) that were not entered into the Waiting Time Management System (SIGTE).
