The Confederation of Industrial Chambers of the United Mexican States requested the urgent intervention of the authorities to unlock the railway andn Colorado Bridge, Chapulco in Veracruz, taken from the September 24more than a week ago settlers.

“We request the urgent intervention of the corresponding authorities to allow the restoration of rail traffic on the Veracruz-Mexico City route,” Concamin said in a statement.

He explained that the railway company has met a large number of demands that the residents make as a condition for the passage of the train and its maintenance in the area, “in the spirit of having a good coexistence with the community through which we travel, we have collaborated on several projects that has been requested by the community, but that some exceed the possibilities of a private company and are the responsibility of the State.”

He added that the steel sector is affected by preventing the supply of raw materials for the operation of the plants, as well as the plastics, automotive (auto parts) and cement industries, among others.

“The impact on the agricultural sector is worrying because this blockade prevents the removal of 20 thousand tons of grain per day destined for the center of the country, which will make balanced animal feed more expensive.”

He also highlighted that the chlorine shortage is critical for CDMX and the rail traffic of containerized general cargo that arrives at the port of Veracruz is also affected, given the high season of end-of-year inventories.

“We ask the authorities for support to reestablish the rule of law as a basic mechanism for the efficient operation of various sectors of the logistics chain, which today are severely impacted after eight days of service interruption.”

Finally, Concamin called on the authorities to ensure that there are conditions to remove the railway equipment that is being held by the residents and to run trains in the area for the benefit of the development of the country, in accordance with respect for Human Rights and the principle of free transit. .
