Pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been dropped from the Indian squad for the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Sources close to the BCCI suggest that the star was dropped due to fitness concerns.
Bumrah, who was not in the announced team, was later included in the team by the selection committee. The BCCI announced the player’s exclusion when the first ODI was to be played in Guwahati on Tuesday. The team members reached Guwahati but Bumrah did not join the team. It is reported that the decision to not play competitive cricket too soon considering the upcoming important series of the star who has returned from injury is also behind this.
Bumrah last played in the Twenty20 match against Australia last September. The star missed the Asia Cup and Twenty20 World Cup. The absence of the star was evident in the Indian bowling as well.
