A warehouse of the National Electoral Commission went up in smoke in Bolobo territory on Wednesday, November 29. Will this loss have repercussions on the participation of the population in the combined elections scheduled for December 20? Serious concerns are being raised after this enormous loss of equipment reported by the CENI in a press release.

The administrator of the territory of Bolobo wonders if the CENI will be expeditious in urgently deploying new equipment to replace those burned, within the constitutional deadline. Jonathan Ipoma believes that the CENI should work diligently to equip its Bolobo branch in order to preserve the population’s right to vote.

“The entire population is worried at the moment. These concerns lead us to ask questions as to whether the CENI will be able to strengthen the CENI Bolobo so that the elections take place on the scheduled date, given the time that remains. We ask the CENI to be expeditious,” declared Jonathan Ipoma, administrator of the Bolobo territory.

After the meeting of the territorial security committee, an exhaustive list of goods lost in the warehouse was made public. These include 163 electronic voting devices from 2018, 136 voting booths, 39 RC kits 2022-2023, 108 external batteries Dev 2018, 165 internal batteries of electronic voting devices (DEV) 2023, 168 solar panels RC 2022-2023 , 5 RC 2022-2023 awareness megaphones, 122 ballot boxes from 2018, 17 itel A18 RC 2022-2023 telephones, 13 Pova cartography techno telephones 2022, a complete RC 2018 kit, complete VSAR 2011 kit, 7 HP computers from the RC 2017, 16 tarpaulins of awareness 2023 and archives of the RC 2022-2023.

Pending the completion of investigations, the two police officers on duty are in detention.
