With the publication in Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) of the reforms regarding informal preventive detention and security, 13 of the 15 constitutional changes made between September and December by the two Chambers of the Congress of the Union and most local congresses, have come into force.
The two reforms that remain to be published in the DOFdespite the fact that they have already been approved by the majority of Congresses in the entities, are the one that establishes that minimum wages must be adjusted each year so as not to be below inflation and the one that prohibits vapers and the fentanyl in the Constitution.
Of the 15 constitutional modifications, 12 correspond to those presented by the former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador in February 2024 identified as Plan C; two of them were proposed by the president, Claudia Sheinbaum and one by Morena legislators.
The former federal president sent 18 reforms constitutional to the Chamber of Deputies and the deputies have not approved four: maximum wages, genetically modified corn, Welfare Pension Fund and electoral.
According to the Legislative Information System (SIL), the Congress of the Union approved 15 reforms to the Constitution, but two of them have not yet been published in the Official Gazette, and therefore cannot come into force.
Approved transformations
One of them is the one that adds a paragraph to articles 4 and 5 of the Constitution to sanction all activities related to electronic cigarettes, vapers and the illicit use of fentanyl, and the other that has not been published is the one that reforms article 123 regarding salaries.
