The assassination of the prominent leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement in Palestine, Ismail Haniyeh, has dominated official and popular circles in Libya, regardless of political orientations and colors.
The House of Representatives mourned Haniyeh, expressing its solidarity with the martyr’s family, friends, and all lovers of freedom and justice, condemning in the strongest terms his assassination, according to the statement.
The Parliament called on the international community to take firm and clear steps against the criminal act committed against the martyr Ismail Haniyeh.
The Council’s statement said that the assassination of Haniyeh reflects the state of hostility and terrorism practiced by the Israeli occupation, which is known for its efforts to destabilize the region and target free and struggling voices.
For its part, the Supreme Council of State, in its statement, offered its condolences to the Islamic nation in general, to the brotherly Palestinian people, and to the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas in particular, on the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh.
The Dar Al-Iftaa also mourned Haniyeh in a statement, saying that he “joined his sons, grandchildren and comrades, and he got what he wished for after a long journey of struggle and combat.”
For its part, the Democratic Party mourned Ismail Haniyeh, renewing its commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and its valiant resistance, considering that this “cowardly act” will only increase the resistance’s certainty and steadfastness until the liberation of all of Jerusalem.
The party called on all Libyans to support the Palestinian brothers and the resistance, and to intensify support and assistance campaigns of all kinds, and to develop levels of awareness towards the cause.
The Justice and Construction Party also condemned in the strongest terms the “heinous” escalation that comes within the framework of the genocide being waged by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people in Gaza, disregarding all humanitarian laws and norms.
In a statement expressing condolences to the martyr’s family and the entire Islamic world, the party warned against expanding the circle of conflict by transferring the battle to other countries and arenas, which would threaten all countries in the region with dire consequences.
The Revival and Renewal Association, in a statement of condolence and condemnation of the incident, demanded an immediate investigation to determine the circumstances of the crime, how it was committed, and what violation of the sovereignty of the state in which he was a guest occurred.
The association considered that the crime indicates the crimes committed by the enemy without regard to international laws and without the international community taking any action to deter the aggressor.
The association also called on the entire Islamic nation in the world to express its condemnation and pressure their governments to take a position to stop the aggression on Gaza and to consider August 3, which the martyr called for, as an international day to support Gaza and the prisoners.
This morning, Wednesday, Hamas announced the assassination of Haniyeh in the Iranian capital, saying in a statement that he died in a treacherous raid on his residence in Tehran.
