The National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (Condusef) released an alert for account holders of a credit card from the banks BBVA, Santander, Banorte, among others; Here we give you the details.
Condusef warned the Mexican population to have a credit card from some of the most used banks in the country, since now they should be more aware of their account statements.

The agency announced that the changes will be made next October 2024, after the Condusef magazine Proteja su Dinero announced that the new Universal Account Statement will have to be issued.
Continuing with the information from the organization belonging to the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, the banks will issue this new document whose purpose is to make the document clear to read for account holders.
The situation caused Condusef to launch the statement requiring banking entities to extend the universal account statement with a format “similar in form and content.”

The Universal Account Statement must contain the aspects of plastic in a complete and detailed manner, in addition to this:
- Payment not to generate interest
- Payday limit
- Cutoff date
- Period
- Payment Information
- Estimates of how much interest the account holder will pay
- Time it will take to settle a debt by paying the minimum
It is worth mentioning that this will apply to all Credit Institutions and Multiple Purpose Financial Companies, Regulated Entities (Sofom, ER) that are responsible for granting credit cards throughout the Mexican Republic.
