Conference of Catholic Bishops of Burundi (C.E.CA.B)
The Conference of Catholic Bishops of Burundi (C.E.CA.B) is a permanent institution in which the Bishops of Burundi jointly exercise certain pastoral responsibilities. Its aim is to promote the good that the Church offers to the people of God in Burundi.
History and Formation
The C.E.CA.B was founded in 1985, although its origins date back to 1963 when the Conference of Ordinaries of Burundi was established. It was later renamed in accordance with the promulgation of the Code of Canon Law in 1983.
Composition
The C.E.CA.B brings together the diocesan Bishops of the eight dioceses in Burundi: Bujumbura, Bururi, Bubanza, Gitega, Ngozi, Ruyigi, Muyinga, and Rutana.
Mission and Goals
The C.E.CA.B. carries out concerted pastoral action on issues of common interest for the Church, communion, and family. Its mission is to:
- Promote peace and reconciliation
- Foster a culture of dialogue and understanding
- Support and empower the poor and marginalized
National Intercultural Center “Oasis of Peace and Reconciliation” (CINOPR)
CINOPR is a center dedicated to promoting peace, reconciliation, and cultural understanding. Its goals include:
- Promoting research, design, and coordination of pastoral work for peace and reconciliation
- Providing a space for meetings, training, and dialogue
- Engaging political leaders, women peacekeepers, students, and others in peacebuilding efforts

Operating Hours
The CECAB headquarters and related CINOPR services operate on the following hours:
- General Secretariat: Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Sunday 9:00 am
- Dry cleaning: Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Saturday 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
- Bar: Monday to Friday 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday 1:00 pm – 10:00 pm
