Rita Querzè / President Bonomi: “Proud to support vaccinations” / CorriereTv

“Anti-industrial sentiment”. There is no member of Confindustria who does not complain of a sense of hostility and widespread prejudice towards the figure of the entrepreneur. All while – especially today – industrialists feel they are taking on the effort and risk necessary to pull the country out of the crisis. Judging by the short film that Confindustria presented at the Venice film festival, the industrialists have decided to get serious in trying to change what sociologists would call the “narrative on the business world”. In the 15 minutes of the film entitled «Centoundici. Women and men for a grandiose dream “, directed by Luca Lucini with Alessio Boni, Cristiana Capotondi, Giorgio Colangeli, Adriano Occulto, messages dear to the industrialists and, in particular, to their president Carlo Bonomi, are concentrated: the parallel between the current phase and second 40s (then the exit from the world war, today the exit from Covid), the idea of the business as a solidarity community that resists over time, the figure of the entrepreneur capable of achieving what seems impossible on paper. The film recounts the meeting in a company vaccination center between a former employee of the company now retired (Colangeli) and a young teacher (Capotondi). The old man talks about his first day at work and this offers the right for a flash back in the late 40s. With Alessio Boni in the role of the then head of the company, as determined as it is visionary: «Not having great dreams is the only thing that can stop us». In the film there are values with a capital letter, from responsibility towards young people to social responsibility in general and towards employees. Industrialists also see themselves as supporters of a more active social role for women. What is certain is that, in the end, the film calls the same current entrepreneurial class to prove themselves up to the challenges of the present. Challenges that Bonomi seems to want to accept with enthusiasm. It is no coincidence that at the press conference the president proudly claimed the role of companies in the vaccination campaign. And he himself underlined that it is “a film on the civil challenge of recovery”. As for the associative mission, the fact that Confindustria is involved with so much energy in the entertainment world should not be underestimated. In its core business, alongside bolts and digital, culture enters.
