Confirmed: Second section of Metro Line 1 will reopen “in parts”

The intervention in the Line B of the Metro for the releveling of roads has already been completed, while the second stage of remodeling of the Line 1 will be completed “in parts” with the rehabilitation of a new segment in the coming days.

This was reported by the general director of the Collective Transport System (STC), Guillermo Calderón, in a conference for the 55th anniversary of the start of operations of the Metro.

“We are working hard, there are many imported components, many subcontractors participating and in the next few days the head of government will announce the opening of an additional segment,” he said in relation to the remodeling works on Line 1, in the section from Observatorio to Isabel la Católica.

About the works in the Line Bthe head of government Marti Batres He recalled that due to differential ground subsidence and the wear and tear of the system itself, there was an urgent need to re-level the tracks, particularly at the San Lázaro, Ricardo Flores Magón, Romero Rubio and Oceanía stations.

“The section from Oceanía to Romero Rubio had 101 plinths or bases that support the tracks, they were given epoxy resin crowns and a material of greater durability and resistance; in addition, the layout, profile and geometry of 1,680 meters of track were rectified,” he explained.

While in the segment from Romero Rubio to Flores Magón, 15 plinths and four neoprene pads were rehabilitated, and 223 track pieces such as fixings, lag bolts and insulating stops were installed.

Additionally, in the Flores Magón to San Lázaro segment, 17 plinths and 298 elements of the road system were worked on, he explained.

Finally, the capital’s leader announced that “works continue on Line 1 and we will also have, in the coming days, the inauguration of the works on the Line 9”.
