Kochi ∙ Conflict in CPI in Ernakulam district is intensifying. The district council member E.C. lashed out at the district leadership before alleging that the disciplinary action against former district secretary and MLA P. Raju was part of sectarianism. Shivdas resigned from the party. Shivdas says that despite complaining to the state leadership against the actions of the district leadership, no action was taken. Shivdas told Manorama Online that the current CPI leadership is digging a hole for the Left Front along with the Congress in Vypin region.

“I have been a part of the party for 35 years. I live in a crumbling house. He was a teacher for 20 years. Cherai resigned and switched to party work when his brother was teaching at Memorial Higher Secondary School. He is single. He is someone who put aside his career and life for the party. It is a party carried like life. They are now running a slander campaign against me, who resigned because they could not hold on any longer. There is such a thing as natural justice. This will be proven.

I am a talker. Communists are not supposed to silence those who speak. If I ask a question, instead of answering it, you should not fire me. It is thought that one should live as a communist. It has to be in the public arena. “We have not decided which political party to work in,” Shivdas said.

Shivdas says that he has decided not to stay in the party anymore due to the lack of a solution to the retaliatory action being pursued by the district leadership for the past two years. Former Vice President of Kuzhupilly Panchayat KA Sivan, IIYF District Jo. Secretary KS Jayadeep, Adv. Dennison Komath and others left the party just before Shivdas. Sivadas accused CPI of appointing those who were expelled by CPM disciplinary action. The Congress-CPI alliance is ruling the Cooperative Bankul from south to central part of Vypin Constituency. Even where CPM has power, they are losing it. The LDF policy is to defeat the Congress.

But CPI cannot stand against the ruling party. Shivdas says that despite informing the district leadership about these matters, they are not ready to look into the matter. Matters were fixed when the late Kanam Rajendran was the secretary and after Benoy Viswam took over as the state secretary. But Shivdas said that no action was taken.

Earlier, P. Raju was demoted in the party due to allegations of fund embezzlement. There were allegations and complaints that Raju had extorted money from a native of Kodungallur in the name of vegetable trade. At the same time, Raju says that this is part of the smear campaign by the current district leadership of the CPI against those who are not interested in them. Along with him, disciplinary action was taken against MP Nixon and P. Navakumar.
