Confrontation in the technology museum: Madness illegal car races

by time news

The German Museum of Technology confronts the public directly and mercilessly with the everyday, brutal violence on the streets. The special exhibition “Madness – Illegal Car Racing. How do we stop the frenzy of speed?” drastically demonstrates what ruthless speeding in traffic can do. The central object of the exhibition is the wreck of the pink jeep in which a 69-year-old died – victims of two speeders who organized an illegal race on February 1, 2016 on Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzien.

The exhibition, which can be seen in the Technikmuseum from this Friday, was created with the support of the Berlin police. Police chief Barbara Slowik recalled at a press presentation on Thursday that last year alone, 560 illegal car races were detected at 3,200 locations – almost two a day and across the city. The exhibition is open until July. You can read a detailed discussion in the Berliner Zeitung on Monday.
