Former provincial council member Ariyakutty Paranjodi has announced that he will resign from all positions in the Sri Lankan Tamil Republic Party.
During the local government elections, Mawai Senathiraja failed to implement the request to change the current Koppai Pradeshiya Sabha vice-chairman based on the agreement made with the partner parties representing the Tamil National Federation.
On the basis of this, he has announced that he will resign from all the positions of the party on the basis that the leader is in a position where he cannot effectively lead the party.
He said the above while commenting on his resignation letter to the media. He further stated,
Confusion within the party
“I have already written several letters to the party leadership regarding the issues related to Koppai constituency and informed them about many issues.
I had sent letters with several demands regarding the need for many reforms in the party. Appropriate replies to the letters sent have not been sent to me from the party leadership. Appropriate action is not taken.
The central committee discussed the issues and it was decided to consult with the Koppai Constituency Branch Executive Committee headed by Senior Vice President CVK Sivagnanam, Treasurer Kanakasabapathy and President Mawai Senathipathy.
Last month, the Koppai Constituency Branch Executive Committee was convened at the house of President Mawai Senadhiraja. According to the unanimous decision of the said committee, we had requested to transfer Koppai Vali East Pradesh Sabha Vice President from Relo party as per the existing local body election agreement. According to the contract, he was supposed to transfer in 2020.
Change of calendar
I had been sending letters for a long time asking for action regarding the transfer of the manager as per the said agreement. Based on the letters, the Koppai Constituency Branch Executive Committee had also requested the transfer of the Koppai Pradeshiya Sabha Vice President.
Mawai Senadhiraja failed to implement this as the leader of Tamil Rasu Party. Based on that, the leader is in a helpless position to lead the party effectively. Based on that, I have informed the party president Mavai Senaraja through a letter that I am resigning from the positions of sub-committees, central executive committee and co-chairman of the Koppai constituency branch committee and I am also resigning from all the responsibilities of the party,” he said.
