The “National Herald Press Institute” was started in 1938 by Jawaharlal Nehru. The company was shut down in 2008 due to a debt burden of over Rs 90 crore, which was the voice of Congress after independence. In this context, the National Herald was acquired in 2010 by Young India Limited, a company founded by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

BJP senior leader Subramaniam Swamy has filed a case in the Delhi High Court alleging that he made a profit of up to Rs 2,000 crore on the transfer of ‘Young India’, which was started for Rs 50 lakh without any consultation with the National Herald’s 1,057 shareholders.

Following this, the Enforcement Department filed a case in 2014 under the Money Laundering and Illegal Money Transfer Act. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were granted bail by the Supreme Court in December 2015 in a case that has been pending since 2015.

Also, in the same case in 2016, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Motilal Vora, Sumant Dube and Oscar Fernandes were exempted from appearing directly in the criminal court. In this case, the Enforcement Department finally issued a notice to Mallikarjuna Kharge of the Congress Party in 2021 and conducted an inquiry.

In the last few days, the Enforcement Department has summoned senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to appear in person for further investigation.

The issue of Sonia Gandhi sending enforcement summons to Rahul Gandhi caused a stir nationally. In this context, a consultative meeting of the National General Secretaries, Heads of State and Heads of State of the Congress Party was held today via video conferencing, with senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi appearing at the Enforcement Department office in Delhi on the 13th in the National Herald case. At the end of the meeting, it was decided to hold a satyagraha on the 13th in front of the enforcement department offices across the country.

As for Delhi in the struggle, members of parliament and members of the Congress Working Committee have decided to hold a massive rally towards the Enforcement Department office in Delhi.
