MADRID, 19 (EUROPA PRESS)

The Congress of Deputies has approved a BNG initiative urging the Government to equate the current reduction coefficients for retirees in the stone, granite and slate extraction sector with those of other groups and to recognize permanent disability faced with a diagnosis of silicosis.

This is a motion resulting from an urgent question in which the two government partners have voted differently. In this way, the initiative has had 187 favorable votes from PP, ERC, Sumar, Bildu Junts and Podemos and 158 abstentions from PNV, PSOE and Vox.

The Galician training initiative, which has been approved in its terms as no amendment was accepted, first of all calls for the recognition of the situation of total permanent disability for workers with first degree silicosis.

Also, on another point, it urges the Government to review the current reduction coefficients assigned so that, at least, those of the external mining categories are equated with those of internal mining.

For their part, they propose extending reduction coefficients for the retirement age to employees of mineral processing companies due to dust and noise levels. The training understands, according to several reports, that these are similar to those of the extractive industry and that it is also a right recognized by jurisprudence.

The nationalist formation in turn wants to assign, within the Social Security system, an identifying code for companies that carry out their activity in the sector of stone extraction and transformation (such as granite and tile), so that In the work history reports, this activity is automatically identified, so that the worker only certifies the job held and not the company’s activity when calculating the retirement age.
