New Delhi: Congress has released another list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Names of 16 candidates have been announced in this list. Manish Tiwari has been made the candidate from Chandigarh. The party has given ticket to Vikramaditya Singh against Kangana Ranaut on Mandi seat of Himachal Pradesh. Names of candidates have been declared for 4 seats in Gujarat. Whereas in Odisha, names of candidates have been announced for 9 seats. Along with this, the party has declared candidates in view of the by-elections for 5 assembly seats of Gujarat.

There are chances of an interesting election contest this time on Mandi Lok Sabha seat of Himachal Pradesh. This is because Congress has made Vikramaditya Singh its candidate from Mandi seat. He will face BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut. The discussion of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s son and Himachal government minister Vikramaditya Singh contesting elections from Mandi was floating in the political circles for many days. Now Congress has officially announced his name. Vikramaditya is the son of Congress’ Himachal Pradesh unit president Pratibha Singh.

Congress has released the list of 16 more candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. The name of former Union Minister Manish Tiwari is included in this list, he will contest the elections from Chandigarh seat. Congress candidate Manish Tiwari studied from Chandigarh. Later he came to Delhi. He joined NSUI (National Student Union of India) in the early 1980s. Manish Tiwari will face BJP candidate Sanjay Tandon, who is the son of late BJP leader Balramji Das Tandon.

In the new list of Congress, Ramji Thakor from Mehsana, Gujarat, Himmatsingh Patel from Ahmedabad East, Paresh Bhai Dhanani from Rajkot, Naisadh Desai from Navsari have got tickets. The candidates were announced at the party’s Central Election Committee meeting held in Delhi on Saturday evening. The party has fielded Vinod Sultanpuri, son of senior Congress leader K D Sultanpuri, from the Shimla (reserved) constituency. It announced four candidates from Gujarat and nine from Odisha.

In Odisha, the party has fielded Mohan Hembram from Keonjhar (reserved) seat, Shrikant Kumar Jena from Balasore, Anant Prasad Sethi from Bhadrak (reserved) seat, Aanchal Das from Jajpur (reserved) seat, Sashmita Behera from Dhenkanal, Siddharth Swaroop Das from Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur. Ravindra Kumar Sethi has been nominated from (Reserved), Sucharita Mohanty from Puri and Yasir Nawaz from Bhubaneswar. Congress also announced the names of candidates for the by-elections to five assembly constituencies in Gujarat.
