With 50 votes in favor, 55 against and 5 abstentions, Congress did not grant Boluarte a travel permit, a mandatory requirement that those who use the President must ask to leave Peru and, therefore , will not be able to participate in the High Level Week of the Seventy-ninth Session of the UN General Assembly.

On September 6, the Executive presented a legislative resolution that explained that the President’s trip to New York will take place between September 22 and 25, during which he will be in charge of the remote office of the president.

Denial of travel due to forest fires

Forest fires that have destroyed thousands of hectares of Peruvian territory and which have caused 15 deaths so far are the main arguments put forward by legislative groups to reject the trip.

Left parties from the Libre Peru parties, the Socialist Bank, the popular Democratic Bloc, but also the conservative party Renovación Gbajumo and most of the non-parties voted against.
