by time news

In the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections, Congress has come up with a new strategy to win the votes of the majority Hindus and beat the BJP’s competition. The ruling BJP, opposition Congress, and secular Janata Dal are competing separately. All three parties have started their campaign and are actively selecting their candidates. Majadat, Aam Aadmi Party, and STBI have already released their first list of candidates and intensified their campaign.

The BJP and Congress are going to release their first list of candidates soon. According to reports, the BJP has decided to field Hindu candidates in all 224 constituencies to attract the votes of the majority of Hindus, just like in the last Assembly elections in 2018. Meanwhile, Congress has adopted a different approach and is discussing how many seats should be given to minority candidates, including Muslims and Christians. In the last election, Congress gave seats to 18 minority candidates and is planning to reduce the number to 13-15 in the upcoming elections to win the votes of the majority of Hindus.

Muslim and Christian organizations have been pressing for their representation in the selection of candidates based on their population size. The top leaders of Congress will consult and make a decision regarding this soon. DK Sivakumar, the Karnataka Congress president, said that the first list of candidates will be released in a couple of days. Recently, leaders of Muslim organizations met with Karnataka Congress in-charge Randeep Singh in Bengaluru to discuss their representation in the upcoming elections.

Bangalore: Congress has devised a new strategy to win the votes of the majority Hindus in the Karnataka assembly elections, defeating the BJP’s competition.

Assembly elections will be held in Karnataka state in April or May. The ruling BJP, the opposition Congress and the secular Janata Dal of former Prime Minister Deve Gowda are competing separately. All the 3 parties have started the election campaign and are engaged in candidate selection.

Majadat, Aam Aadmi Party and STBI have released the first list of candidates and intensified their campaign.

BJP and Congress are going to release the first list of candidates in a few days. As far as the BJP is concerned, like in the last 2018 Assembly elections, the party’s senior executives have said that they will not give chance to minority candidates like Muslims and Christians in this election. There are reports that Hindu candidates will be fielded in all 224 constituencies in order to attract the votes of the majority of Hindus.

Congress has changed its strategy to deal with this religious competition from BJP. The Congress is actively discussing how many seats should be given to minority candidates including Muslims and Christians. In the last election of 2018, the Congress gave seats to 18 candidates belonging to minorities.

The Congress leadership is planning to reduce the number of candidates to 13 to 15 seats in the upcoming elections. The Congress top brass thinks that it will be able to get the votes of the majority of Hindus.

In this case, the leaders of the Muslim organizations recently met and talked with Karnataka Congress in-charge Randeep Singh in Bengaluru.

At that time, they demanded that Muslims should be represented in the selection of candidates according to their population size in the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections. Similarly, Christian organizations have also been pressing for allotment of additional seats.

To this, Karnataka Congress president DK Sivakumar said, “The top leaders of the party will consult and take a decision in this regard. The first list of candidates will be released in a couple of days,” he said.
