Kochi – Congress leader and former minister T.H. Mustafa (83) passed away. He died in a private hospital in Kochi due to old age related ailments. K. Karunakaran was the food minister in the cabinet. He was born on December 7, 1941 as the son of T.K.M.Hydros and Fatima Beavi in Vazhakulam, Perumbavoor, Ernakulam. After his primary education, he became a full-time political activist.
Rashtriya entered politics through the Youth Congress. He held the posts of youth congress constituency president, block committee president and district general secretary. He also served as DCC President for 14 years.
He became a member of the Legislative Assembly from Aluva for the first time in 1977 and from Kunnathunad constituency in 1982, 1987, 1991 and 2001. 1991-1995 K. He was the Minister of Food and Public Distribution in the Karunakaran Cabinet.
Member of State Executive Committee and National Council of INTUC. He has also held the posts of Congress Legislative Party Deputy Leader, DCC General Secretary, KPCC General Secretary, KPCP Vice President and Kerala Khadi Industry Board Vice Chairman.
