Meanwhile, after Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Congress Party has now announced candidates for 2 seats in UP. Congress has given ticket to former MLA Rakesh Rathore from Sitapur seat. Earlier, ticket was given to Nakul Dubey from here, but he returned the ticket. Rakesh Rathore has been MLA from Sitapur Sadar on BJP ticket in 2017. However, she later joined SP.

The two Lok Sabha seats for which Congress has announced candidates include Sitapur and Mathura Lok Sabha seats. Congress has made former MLA Rakesh Rathore the candidate from Sitapur, while Mukesh Dhangar has been declared the candidate from Mathura. If sources are to be believed, Congress leader Nakul Dubey did not want to contest the elections, hence he returned the ticket. After this, the former MLA rebelled against BJP and joined Samajwadi Party, but he did not get any benefit from joining SP.

Rakesh Rathore was neither given ticket in the 2022 assembly elections nor was SP given ticket to Rakesh Rathore in the MLC elections held thereafter. In the recently held urban body elections, Rakesh Rathore was seeking ticket for his wife for Municipality President from Sitapur, but SP gave tickets to two candidates at the last moment. Due to filing of nomination later, Rakesh Rathore’s wife did not get the SP symbol. The daughter-in-law of former MLA Radheshyam Jaiswal had got the SP symbol. In this election, Rakesh had also made serious allegations against Akhilesh Yadav. Former MLA Rakesh Rathore was very angry with all this. For this reason, he joined Congress before the Lok Sabha elections. Now Congress has declared him as the Lok Sabha candidate.
