Peru is experiencing a tense political crisis in recent days, once again unleashing citizen indignation. However, the congressmen seem to be more interested in their activities as parliamentarians than talking about the problems that are affecting the country – again – today.

A Peruvian congresswoman surprised to reveal through its social networks that has created a working group on video games in order to propose a regulatory framework for the activity in the country to «guarantee their best development and performance«. The meeting was held with public institutions such as Indecopi, Produce, Promperú and Concytect.

Likewise, the ‘CVA’ is also involved (Associated Video Game Companies) which brings together the main video game companies in Peru with their representative Lorena Nobile.

The national industry seems to have had interesting growth compared to other Latin American countries. According to information from Statista, the video game market in Peru is projected to grow by 8.19% between 2023 and 2027being able to reach a market volume of US$ 474.50 million in 2027.

In relation to the development of national video games, the industry surpassed production levels. According to IGDA Peru, there are currently 50 studies in operation all seeking to have a focus on creative and cultural development. Finally, investment in mobile games continues to be interesting, estimating that mobile application games will generate US$ 117 million in revenue by 2023 in Peru, with a growth of 26.53%.
