Conmebol is very excited about the 2030 World Cup, where South America will host some of the matches of the competition to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first edition of the event.
Within this context, the parent company of South American football published a publication about a very special milestone that is being remembered this Saturday, July 13.
“94 years ago, the first FIFA World Cup began in South America! We are ready to celebrate the centenary at home, it is getting closer and closer!” said Conmebol along with a curious flyer featuring three footballers: a Paraguayan, an Argentinean and a Uruguayan.
On July 13, 1930, France defeated Mexico 4-1 in Pocitos, Uruguay, in the first match of the historic first World Cup.
