Kochi: The Kerala High Court today adjourned the hearing on the anticipatory bail application of actor Dileep and others in a case of conspiracy to endanger the investigating officers in the abduction and torture case of the actress. A special sitting will be held this morning. Assessing the need for time to hear detailed arguments, Justice P Gopinath was shifted to the courtroom instead of sitting online.

Dileep, brother P. Sivakumar (Anoop), Dileep’s sister’s husband TN. Suraj, Dileep’s cousin Appu, friend Baiju Chengamanadu and Dileep’s friend and hotel owner Sarath from Aluva are considering anticipatory bail. Eventually, the government issued an explanatory memorandum on the bail pleas of all except Sarath, who had applied for bail. The government said further clarification was needed on Sarath’s plea.

Meanwhile, the prosecution has filed a petition in the high court seeking further adjournment of the hearing of further witnesses in the case of abduction and torture of the actress to film defamatory scenes as per the citation. Nilesha, Kannadasan, D., who are appearing for the prosecution as additional witnesses. The trial court had yesterday decided to question Suresh and Usha on the 22nd and BSNL nodal officer Satyamurthy on the 25th. Earlier, the High Court had given permission for their testimony. Subsequently, the prosecution asked the trial court to give them time to reach Kerala and adjourn the hearing for another week.

The trial court rejected the request, saying the High Court had directed that the examination of additional witnesses be completed within ten days. The prosecution then filed a petition in the high court.
