Claiming that a well-planned conspiracy is going on against BNP, the party’s general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the campaign has started targeting BNP like one-eleven. A planned campaign to undercut BNP’s contribution is underway. They are being unfair, not right. That’s why BNP’s statement on election demand is being criticized.
He said these things at a press conference held at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan in the capital on Wednesday (August 28).
He said, BNP has been tortured the most in 15 years, Begum Khaleda Zia has served 6 years in prison. Many people are killed, missing, victims of lawsuits.
Mirza Fakhrul said that BNP must give reasonable time to the interim government for acceptable elections and said that BNP as a democratic political party has been talking about elections, that is why there has been agitation for so long, that is why BNP will say this.
Secretary General of BNP said that there is a conspiracy to depoliticize One-Eleven, then there is an attempt to cancel the party. Now there is that apprehension. That is why it is said that those who supported the previous government, who went against democracy, do not want to see them in the government. It is a call to all political parties to take into consideration that division should not be created among the people.
Mirza Fakhrul said that due to the flood, the 6-day program announced for BNP’s foundation anniversary on September 1 has been canceled and all the money will be given to the flood victims.
He said that the recent flood situation has become dire. India did not warn before opening the dam, due to which the situation turned dire, 27 people lost their lives, many others were injured.
In some places, miscreants are trying to put the blame on BNP, BNP Secretary General said, protesting against it. BNP is not involved in any corruption, BNP is very strict.
Mirza Fakhrul, claiming that the case against the associates of the previous government is going on, said that before taking this case, the law enforcement agencies should verify it. The dumping case needs to be stopped altogether. Don’t file a case that doesn’t have merit. Give cases where applicable.
Commenting on the plot to destroy the revolution from the neighboring country India, he said, “We are going through a transitional period, there is a plot to disrupt the stable situation.” It can’t be done. The interim government should cooperate. Avoid giving unnecessary cases to activists. Plots are underway to derail the interim government’s goal of reforming and leading to elections.
Mirza Fakhrul once again urged the government to hold talks with the political parties to fix a reasonable time.
He said, BNP is not in favor of banning any political party. Anyone has the right to do politics. I am not in favor of those who do not believe in the independence of the country, besides, everyone has the right to do politics.
Mirza Fakhrul also said that some new people are coming forward now, their intentions are suspected, that’s why everyone is called to be careful.
Big businessmen in Bangladesh feel that an elected government is needed as soon as possible. The interim government needs to include more important people to take the work forward.
At that time, Nazrul Islam Khan, a member of the standing committee, said that difficult times are going on, now anyone is joining the movement with various demands. But the interim government needs to be given time, this kind of movement is not acceptable now. Time needs to be given until the new government comes through elections. The main task is to establish democracy, for that, elections are necessary. It needs to be given time.
