Construction of a road across the stream: Farmers’ Associations demand to stop it

by time news
Namakkal: ‘Apart from blocking the construction of a road along the stream, steps should be taken to ensure that no changes are made to the existing natural structure’, the Dusur Lake Stream Irrigation Association has submitted a petition to the Collector of Namakkal.
It has been stated in the petition: We are living in Balapatti village next to Alankanattam, Namakkal district. We have agricultural land in the area bordered by Balapatti and Pudukottai village. Adjacent to our lands, downstream and upstream, is the Tussur lake outcrop. At present, the stream is overflowing with water. We have cultivated paddy and cotton in agricultural lands.
In this case, the Panj administration has taken up the road construction work at the stream. This stream is outcrop land, public works
affected the department. Here, there is no right to carry out works. People’s tax money and government money are being wasted for their own needs. If such a road is constructed, the water level will not flow properly, there will be water stagnation and there is a risk of water entering our fields.
Therefore, measures should be taken to prevent the construction of the land that drains the water of the Tusur lake and to prevent any change in the existing natural structure.
It says so.
