Construction of Anna Road 4-lane flyover in Chennai costing Rs. 621 crore

The Finance Minister of Tamil Nadu, BDR Palanivel Thiagarajan, stated that a four-lane flyover will be constructed on Anna Road from Thenampet to Saidapet during the upcoming year. This project is estimated to cost Rs 621 crore. The announcement was made during the presentation of the budget for the financial year 2023-24 in the Legislative Assembly. The government is prioritizing road infrastructure development to promote the economic growth of the state.

Under the Chief Minister’s Road Development Scheme, 148 km of roads will be widened to four-lane roads, costing Rs 1,407 crore, and 524 km of roads will be widened to two-lane roads, costing Rs 803 crore. The construction of a modern engineering feat, a flyover over the Chennai Metro Rail tunnels, will consult with international engineering experts. Once completed, traffic congestion at several major junctions will be improved, and road safety will be increased.

215 land bridges will be replaced at a cost of Rs 996 crore to avoid disruption of traffic during monsoons and floods, while Rs 1,847 crore has been allotted for the Chennai Ring Road Project, Rs 1,500 crore for the Chennai-Kanyakumari Industrial Corridor Project, and Rs 645 crore for the Tamil Nadu Road Development Project-II.
