Construction Worker Killed While Setting Up for Las Vegas Grand Prix

A tragic incident occurred on Saturday as a construction worker lost his life while working on the Formula 1 track in Las Vegas. The worker was setting up at the Bellagio fountains on the iconic Las Vegas Strip when the accident took place.

According to reports, the worker suffered a major laceration to the neck, and despite being rushed to a local hospital, he was pronounced dead. The Metro Police were called to the scene at 11:30 am, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will now lead the investigation into the incident.

Details surrounding the accident have not been publicly disclosed, leaving many questions unanswered. The US Sun has reached out to both Metro Police and Formula 1 for further comments and information on the matter.

The inaugural Nevada race, known as the Vegas Grand Prix, is set to take place on Sunday, November 19. The track will wind its way through downtown, passing by major landmarks such as Caesars Palace, the Bellagio, the Venetian, and The Sphere, as confirmed by Formula 1.

The construction of the 3.8-mile track is estimated to cost around $560 million, and a multi-story paddock building costing $480 million is being constructed off the Strip. The paddock building will include team garages, suites, and an impressive 28,000-square-foot screen on the roof.

This will be only the third time Las Vegas has hosted a Grand Prix, with the last races taking place in 1981 and 1982. The anticipation for this year’s event has been building, and it is expected to attract a significant crowd.

As the investigation continues and more information becomes available, the entire Formula 1 community mourns the loss of the construction worker and sends its deepest condolences to his family and friends. Safety measures will be further scrutinized to ensure the well-being of all involved in the preparation of the highly anticipated Vegas Grand Prix.
