Al-Marsad Newspaper: Infectious diseases consultant Dr. Tariq Al-Azraqi answered a question, “Are the previously known smallpox vaccines sufficient to protect against monkeypox?”

Al-Azraqi said, during a telephone interview with Al-Ikhbariya channel: “The vaccine used for smallpox, which became extinct in the seventies, but the vaccine is still available in laboratories in America and Europe.”

He pointed out, “The smallpox vaccine is given to people who work in laboratories and laboratories because of their contact with monkeys as a result of conducting scientific experiments on monkeys and the occurrence of contact between humans and animals.”

He continued, “The smallpox vaccine is given in cases of outbreaks, specifically to people who are in contact with monkeys if they are infected.”
