Consumer credit spins nine months of growth

Consumer credit granted by commercial banks continues to recover, according to the Monetary Aggregates and financial activity of the Bank of Mexico (Banxico), with which it marked its ninth month of progress.

In September, current consumer credit from commercial banks increased 6.2%, in its real annual comparison, and the portfolio balance amounted to 1.14 trillion pesos.

This is one of the highest growths since February 2017, when current consumer credit increased 6.4 percent.

Thus, the balance of the current credit portfolio of commercial banks to the private sector in September 2022 was 5.30 trillion pesos, which represented an annual increase of 3.9%, practically all the sub-segments of the category presented increases.

The balance of housing credit amounted to 1.17 trillion pesos, with a growth of 3%, while financing to non-financial companies and individuals with business activity accumulated a balance of 2.87 trillion pesos, also an increase of 3%. ; loans to non-bank intermediaries grew 12.2% annually.
