To support exports, Mr. Do Ngoc Hung, Commercial Counselor, Vietnam Trade Office in the US said that the US market still has a lot of room for Vietnamese fruit to expand and develop.

However, in order to access this potential market, Mr. Hung said that the geographical distance is too far, leading to a long shipping time. In addition, there is no US standard irradiation facility located in the North…

Therefore, in order to remove difficulties for Vietnamese exports, the Vietnam Trade Office in the US coordinated with relevant agencies to negotiate with the US Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APHIS) and was allowed to add added a partner that is an enterprise of Bac Giang to the list of companies that signed an agreement with APHIS on behalf of the Hanoi Irradiation Center on the certification of irradiation facilities to export lychees to the United States.

For the Malaysian market, said Mr. Le Phu Cuong, Commercial Counselor, Vietnam Trade Office in Malaysia, the market label Malaysia and Thailand are almost monopolistic, but the market capacity of longan products is very large.

Therefore, in order to expand the export of longan, litchi in particular, and agricultural products in general from Vietnam to Malaysia, businesses need to take measures to preserve products for shipping by sea, reduce costs, and increase competitiveness with Vietnam. similar products on the market.

Regarding agricultural products, according to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, Vietnam’s fresh litchi products have been exported to 30 different markets, including China, the US, the EU, Japan, and China. Korea, the countries in ASEAN, the Middle East… and is continuing to be expanded. As for the longan, the main consumption market is still in the country, but it has also been initially exported to Japan and the EU.

In particular, in recent years, the provinces of Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Hai Duong and Son La have implemented many projects to improve the quality and value of the growing areas, invest in the application of science and technology in agricultural products. production to improve productivity, ensure product quality and safety, serve domestic consumption as well as meet standards and conditions for export. As a result, the yield of litchi and longan is maintained or increased steadily over the years.

However, besides the advantages, the abundant supply is putting great pressure on consumption when exports in many markets drop sharply and domestic demand is also limited. Meanwhile, the traditional market and with the largest demand is China, which has increasingly increased requirements for quality, quarantine, labeling, packaging as well as related regulations on traceability, preservation, etc. Shipping, payment…

In order to have a successful crop, Mr. Hai asked the units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to keep up-to-date on the situation of agricultural products and fruits in the season, to regularly exchange with businesses to grasp the demand. export and consumption support.

In the long-term, in order to implement fundamental and sustainable solutions, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, ministries, branches and localities to orient policies and have opportunities mechanism to encourage the formation and replication of the agricultural value chain model from production to consumption in association with market demand, production in accordance with the planning, quantity and quality of agricultural products.

Along with that, investing in the development of the preservation and deep processing industry to diversify products and attract the participation of stakeholders in the value chain from manufacturers to distribution systems and enterprises. processing, exporting, business support organizations, to contribute to bringing lychee, longan in particular and agricultural products to go further and more sustainably.
