Contaminated frankfurters, died of Listeria meningitis in Alexandria

Investigations are underway into a new death from Listeria monocytogenes meningitis, perhaps related to contamination which last week led to the company’s withdrawal from the market some batches of wurstel based on poultry meat.

It will take a few days for the results which will allow to understand if the death of an eighty year old from Alexandria is linked to the food listeriosis clusterwhich has 66 cases reported in Italy since 2020 and three deaths in Lombardy, Piedmont and Emilia Romagna between the end of 2021 and June of this year.
