KINSHASA – Despite the ban on this Wednesday’s demonstration organized by the opposition group, the political parties Ecidé of Martin Fayulu and Envol of Delly Sesanga gathered in front of their offices to demand the cancellation of the elections of December 20.
The police dispersed the ECIDE activists who were demonstrating in front of the headquarters as well as the supporters of Envol, roaming the city’s arteries. Opposition supporters solemnly demanded the cancellation of the general elections and the removal of the CENI president; they vehemently denounced “the cheating orchestrated by the electoral commission”.
Martin Fayulu denounces the violent repression of the police against the demonstrators in front of his headquarters on Boulevard Triomphal.
The authorities in Kinshasa did not want to allow demonstrations today, according to them “for security reasons”.
