Continuing ‘Jay Beam’ Image Controversy: Salary Refund Writer

by time news

The recently released film ‘Jai Beam’ starring Surya has become a major controversy. A calendar display featured in the film in particular has provoked outrage among certain communities.

They also allege that the symbols in many of the scenes are aimed at attacking the community. Following this, actor Surya, the producer and protagonist of the film, has faced strong opposition from the community.

Currently, the latest update on ‘Jay Beam’ is that prose writer Kanmani Gunasekara has returned his salary for the film.

Kanmani Gunasekara has shared his grief by writing a long message on his Facebook page.

According to his post, ‘Jay Beam’ film director DJ Gnanavell approached Kanmani Gunasekara two years ago and asked him to write the lyrics for his film saying that there should be a Nativity Touch in the verses. Kanmani Gunasekara also wrote the verse.

He was not informed of the calendar displays which have now become controversial. Also, he said that the title of the film was ‘Rat Hunting’ when he was working for the translation.

He said he was disappointed by the act as he also belongs to the same community and his feelings are hurt even though the film is currently being edited.

Also, Kanmani Gunasekara said that DJ Gnanavell has put controversial scenes in the film as it was released on OTT and has provoked great animosity between the two communities.

Now, he, raised by his own community, has made an important decision. Kanmani Gunasekara has decided to return the check for Rs. 50,000 paid for the regional translation of the film to the producer, along with a letter of condolence.

Moreover, Kanmani Gunasekara has said that he does not hope to meet such traitors in the future.
