Kollam. Principal Nisha Tharail says she has no role in the controversial moral circulars of SN College, Kollam. This rule, which was circulated in the name of guidelines to be followed by students while going on an excursion, was the cause of great criticism in the social media. This is followed by the principal’s explanation.

Such a circular was issued without his knowledge or consent. When he sends out a circular it is in his letter pad. It will bear his signature and seal. An unprecedented circular is being circulated now. It is true that children have gone on excursions from here. The last batch that had gone on an excursion has also returned. They have not filed any complaint yet. The principal also stated that neither the children nor their parents have raised any complaint.

The controversial circular contains 11 recommendations such as boys and girls not sitting close to each other, not taking photographs, reservation of seats in the front for girls in recreational vehicles, boys and girls should not sit together under any circumstances, dress code should be observed, girls should not travel alone, girls’ rooms should be locked from outside after a certain time. Strict action will be taken if violated, the circular said.

Meanwhile, SFI protested against the controversial circular. A banner reading ‘Morality is out of step’ was also placed at the college gate in the name of SFI. The principal said that they will investigate who issued such a letter.
