A controversy has erupted on social media regarding the fact that the Hindi language has been insulted in this scene. One wrote on Twitter, ‘Dialogue of a new Malayalam film. Respect the official language of the Republic of India. Many South Indians also came to the actor’s defense after this. One wrote, ‘I like Malayalam films. There is no need of Hindi in Kerala or southern states. If you want to live in the South then learn local languages like Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, like when we come to live in the North, South Indians speak Hindi.’ One said, ‘Amban is a South Indian.’

‘Aavesham’ hit the theaters on April 11. The film began streaming on Prime Video on May 9, exactly 28 days after its theatrical release. After its OTT release, the film has been removed from theaters in Kerala as the film did not meet the deadline of 42 days window prescribed by the United Organization of Kerala (FEUOK).
