There is intense backlash on social media sparked by the show SKAI “Unmatched” and the comments of hosts Yiannis Ntsounos and Christos Koutras regarding a video of actress Klelia Andriolatou from her vacations.
In particular, the comment from the show “Unmatched” on the actress’s video was: “Andriolatou and… plain bread”, with Christos Koutras and Yiannis Ntsounos proceeding with the following commentary that provoked strong reactions.
Christos Koutras: “Let’s get to serious matters now. Ms. Klelia Andriolatou continues her vacation in the Ionian. Give us a little…”
Yiannis Ntsounos: “Well, how many dives did she take? Three or four? There is also style. I wonder, where is she? Seems like Ithaca to me… Ionian in general… Very nice… You, do you like diving that much?”
Christos Koutras: “Yes, yes, the rocks…”
Yiannis Ntsounos: “The rock? The caves there? What? Why haven’t they returned to work?”
“We’re done with Ms. Andriolatou,” said Yiannis Ntsounos, while Christos Koutras remained indifferent as the next topic of the show came up, “Let’s turn to see the Ionian, let’s turn to see the beauties of Greece,” with Klelia Andriolatou’s video replaying, following the presenters’ demand on SKAI.
“What should we point out now, Christos?” asked Yiannis Ntsounos, with Christos Koutras responding: “Nothing, man Yiannis, can’t you just not talk? It can’t play on a loop until 12?”
As expected, the hosts’ stance sparked strong reactions on social media.
What the hosts responded
After the uproar, the SKAI hosts wanted to respond. Specifically, Christos Koutras stated that admiration should not be confused with sexism, emphasizing that the actress is close in age to their children.
“I want to say a word because I can’t hold back. Let’s not confuse admiration with sexism. We read something on a site that accused us – because we don’t understand it either – saying we are simultaneously both foolish and sexist.
I should mention that Ms. Andriolatou is close to the age of Yiannis’s eldest son and close to the age of my own son. We are 50-year-old people and whoever considers it to be anything of the sort is foolish. That’s it, period, goodbye.”
“Deep night. Deep night, kids,” said Yiannis Ntsounos in turn. “Really deep night. Admiring something isn’t bad, because when you write and comment on someone as a sexist, you can’t write about the handsome, dark, tall guy that Emily met in Rome, shame!” added Christos Koutras.
