New information regarding the “dismissal” of Christos Mastoras from Marinella’s concert at the Herodeion comes to light from reports of entertainment broadcasts.
As it became known on Tuesday, 24/09, Christos Mastoras will not be participating in tonight’s concert of Marinella at the Herodeion, as was scheduled, with initial reports suggesting that the reason for this was that the singer did not attend the second rehearsal for the big event.
Shortly afterward, an announcement from the production company, as well as from Christos Mastoras himself, mentioned a health issue of the artist.

However, newer reports mention problems that existed between the two performers, even from the previous rehearsal for the big night.
Specifically, according to what Aphrodite Grameli said on the show “To Proino,” citing information from Marinella’s close circle of collaborators, the great performer allegedly found Christos Mastoras unprepared at their last rehearsal.
“Prior to the general rehearsal at the Herodeion, where Christos Mastoras did not show up, there was a rehearsal during which very many technical mistakes occurred. Marinella was a bit startled by the fact that Christos Mastoras made mistakes, forgot lyrics, and was not technically ready, while she, performing, as her collaborators told me, the same songs for many decades, insists on rehearsing songs that she has sung thousands of times. According to Marinella, this image required not just one more rehearsal but many to improve. At the penultimate rehearsal, Christos Mastoras appeared unprepared, causing concern,” said Aphrodite Grameli.
“When this rehearsal was completed, Christos Mastoras promised Marinella that he would come the next day and everything would be perfect. The next day, which was when the rehearsal was scheduled for 10, Christos Mastoras had not appeared, and after some delay, while everyone was looking for him, a text message was sent to the maestro’s mobile, informing him that he was ill and could not come. What Marinella’s collaborators conveyed to me is that Christos Mastoras wrote in the message, ‘I am not well, I am sick, I cannot come.’ He sent it 25 minutes before the rehearsal,” she added.

At the same time, Stamatina Tsimtsili noted on her show that she contacted Christos Mastoras and was worried about how he sounded.
“Yesterday, I managed to talk to Christos Mastoras, and the way I heard him worried me. I heard a person very sick, who was struggling to get his voice out. He was in a difficult situation; he must have been lying down and trying to gather his strength. In fact, I felt bad; I said to him, ‘Did I wake you up?’ He said, ‘No, I’m very sick.’ I don’t want to mimic the way he spoke; he sounded like a very worn, burdened person,” described the presenter.
“I said to him, ‘Do you understand what has happened, what is being written and said?’ He said, ‘I would not want to overshadow this night in any way, nor will I get into the process of responding; I want to get better.’ A few hours later, of course, he made the specific post because he understood the dimensions that this particular matter had taken. I heard a person in a very difficult situation,” she added.
Poseidon Giannopoulos: Marinella is a “monster” of perfectionism
Statements on the issue were also made by Poseidon Giannopoulos, who, among other things, emphasized that Marinella is a “monster” of perfectionism.
“On the one hand, we hear about Christos Mastoras’s departure, while on the other hand, we hear about dismissal. I don’t know what it is; I have no reporting. Just with the knowledge I have from these 3.5 decades in the field, I assume that on the one hand, I know Marinella, and I think there would have been the utmost professionalism and utmost consistency, because that’s how Marinella is, and on the other hand, without knowing again because the person has issued an announcement that he has a health problem, I know that younger artists are a bit more laid back, humoristically speaking, ‘I don’t care, I’ll go 15-30 minutes late to rehearsal; I don’t care if I don’t know the lyrics to some songs, I’ll learn them later.’ It’s not like that. If this happened, I believe it would upset Marinella, who is a ‘monster’ of perfectionism and rightly told Antonis Remos to take the songs,” said Poseidon Giannopoulos.
“I am of the opinion that when you are fortunate enough to be with the best in the premier venue known as the Herodeion, when you have had the luck to duet with another giant, my beloved Charoula Alexiou, when you have been given the chance to also duet with Giorgos Dalaras and participate in his concerts, even if you are sick, you camp out with a tent in the Herodeion so you don’t miss any rehearsal. Of course, Christos Mastoras did himself an injustice,” he added.
