Maccabi Haifa were angry with referee Oral Greenfeld for the penalty that they claim was not whistled for the team during the first half against Hapoel Tel Aviv this evening (Sunday), following the ball touching the hand of El Yam Kanzpolski in the box.
Judge Oral Greenfeld and the judging team explained to the people of Haifa that this was not a hand offense. According to the law, in the case where a defensive player tries to move the ball away and he hits another defensive player – who is not expecting the ball and therefore does not expand the volume of his body towards it – it is not a penalty.

The international football constitution also backs up the referee’s words
HANDBALL
A defender tries to kick the ball out. The ball hits the arm of another defender who is standing close in their penalty area and does not expect the ball to come from a team-mate.
What is the correct decision?

The question then arises why Greenfeld was called to VAR. It turns out that the judges on the screen were not unequivocal in their opinion either, so Greenfeld decided to check himself with them and went to the screen to check with them and make an accurate decision, even though he was decisive from the first moment for what he perceived in the event.
The judges’ union supported the teams and said that an informed decision was made here in an event that does not happen every day, when the parties did all the right actions to make the exact decision. The referees’ union even sent the event for an opinion abroad on the goal, and received approval for the decision.
