Controversy Surrounds Suresh Gopi’s Broken Golden Crown at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral

Thrissur: Actor and BJP leader Suresh Gopi’s golden crown in the shape of Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral fell and broke on social media. Suresh Gopi and his family were offering the crown when it fell down and the top part broke off. A gold-covered crown weighing about five pawans was presented. Suresh Gopi reached the church with his family on Monday morning. Sureshgopi informed that there was an earlier vow to present a golden crown to Our Lady of Lourdes before her daughter’s marriage and the dedication was part of that. BJP workers of the district also came to the church.

After the crown fell, Suresh Gopi was criticized in the social media. The reaction of many is that the mother has recognized the hypocrisy of the BJP leader. It was criticized that this drama is a prelude to contesting in Thrissur in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and that it is a mother’s reaction to the bloodstain in Manipur. Questions were also raised as to whether any saint in Suresh Gopi’s native land or the land where he grew up would not be eligible for the gold crown. The video of the incident is widely circulated on social media.

Suresh Gopi’s daughter Bhagya and businessman Shreyas Mohan got married in Guruvayur on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also participating in the function at Guruvayur. As part of this, the marriages that were supposed to be held in Guruvayur between seven and nine that morning had caused controversy. Bhagya is the eldest daughter of Suresh Gopi and Radhika.
