The European Union, the United States and the United Kingdom are expected to sign the first international treaty on the legal regulation of technologies based on artificial intelligence. This is stated in today’s publication of the “Financial Times”, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
Brussels, Washington and London will sign the Council of Europe’s framework convention on artificial intelligence, the British publication points out.
The convention, which is legally binding, has been in the works for more than two years. More than 50 countries are participating in its creation, including Canada, Israel, Japan and Australia, adds the “Financial Times”.
A Council of Europe Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law was adopted by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on 17 May 2024.
Countries that wish to sign the international treaty have the opportunity to do so from today, September 5, in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, according to Reuters.
