The facts which led the former goalkeeper of the France team to be convicted date back to the summer of 2020. A 13-year-old teenager then filed a complaint after interacting with Bruno Martini, hidden under the nickname “Daddy”. Images of a sexual nature were then exchanged. No meeting between the former president of the National Handball League (NHL) and the teenager took place. Bruno Martini defended himself by explaining that he thought the boy was over 15 years old.
Placed in police custody then referred to the Paris court, the former handball player had accepted an appearance on prior admission of guilt. Admitting the facts, but refuting the possession of child pornography images, he was then sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence, a fine of 2,500 euros and a ban on carrying out an activity involving contact with minors for five years.
