NEW DELHI: The central government has directed oil producers to reduce the maximum retail price of imported cooking oil by Rs 10 per litre.

60 percent of cooking oil used for cooking in our country is imported and sold by various companies. The price of cooking oil is falling rapidly in the international market. Following this, the oil producers reduced the price of imported cooking oil by Rs 10 to Rs 15 per liter last month.

Union Food Secretary Sudanshu Pandey has directed to pass on the benefits to consumers as prices have fallen by another 10 per cent in the last one week. The central government has ordered to reduce the maximum retail price of cooking oil by Rs 10 per liter within a week and to maintain a uniform price across the country.
