Signed on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, this roadmap covers the areas of education and professional training, technical cooperation in priority sectors and the field of security, economic promotion and investments, as well as financial assistance.
“The Kingdom of Morocco and the member states of the Mano River Union are linked by strong and centuries-old bonds of fraternity and solidarity. Ties of friendship, mutual respect and a common vision for a prosperous, secure and emerging Africa unite His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the leaders of the Mano River Union,” reads the text of the agreement. cooperation between the parties.
In a press statement following the signing ceremony of this agreement, the Ivorian Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed “strong and fruitful” cooperation between Morocco and the Mano River Union, in expressing his country’s desire to strengthen this partnership and translate its provisions into reality.
For her part, the Liberian Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed Morocco’s constant support to the countries of the Mano River Union and its willingness to share its expertise and know-how in several areas to bring development and prosperity to this part of the continent. This is a step forward to further deepen cooperative relations between the Kingdom and this regional bloc, she said.
The minister also praised Morocco’s leadership embodied by the Royal Atlantic initiative.
Along the same lines, his Guinean counterpart evoked a symbol of inter-African cooperation and a partnership for fraternity, welcoming the support that Morocco provides to Africa under the leadership of HM the King.
For his part, the head of Sierra Leonean diplomacy indicated that this roadmap constitutes a “very important” step towards the consolidation of the long-standing relationship between Morocco and the countries of the Mano River Union.
It is time, according to him, to continue efforts to realize common values and achieve shared prosperity.
Under this roadmap, the implementation of which is ensured by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), the Kingdom undertakes to share its experience and best practices with the countries of the Mano River Union. .
While noting the progress made by Morocco under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, the road map notes that Morocco has implemented several strategic plans in different areas of development such as professional training, agriculture, water, fishing, tourism, and renewable energies to accelerate progress and contribute to the diversification of its economy.
Under the agreement, the parties agree to continue regular consultations to support applications and exchange views on common multilateral and regional issues, including through high-level meetings of foreign ministers and senior officials. .
The signing ceremony of this agreement took place in the presence of the Ambassador Permanent Representative of Morocco to the UN, Omar Hilale and the Ambassador, Director General of AMCI, Mohamed Methqal.
