Within the framework of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Libya and Italy, the Minister of Local Government in the Government of National Unity, Badr al-Din al-Toumi, met with the Italian Minister of Public Administration, Paolo Zangrillo.
This meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the Como Lac 2024 Forum, comes “to discuss prospects for cooperation between the Libyan Ministry of Local Government and the Italian Ministry of Public Administration in a number of areas of common interest, which are summarized in (digital transformation, capacity building, developing evaluation systems, activating local administration, And other shared files).
During the meeting, “the similarities between the Italian and Libyan models in the field of local administration were reviewed, whether in terms of regulating legislation or the nature of the relationship between the central authority and the local administration units, as the philosophy of the two models is based on broader powers for the local administration units to manage their affairs and their responsibility to bring about spatial development while preserving On a unified state.”
During the meeting, “the broad outlines of the training activities that are intended to be implemented during the coming months were laid out with the aim of raising the efficiency of public employees in many fields, with a special focus on the uses of artificial intelligence in public administration and the development of urban planning systems.”
The Minister of Local Government praised “the role played by the School of Public Administration in raising the efficiency of public employees in various areas of knowledge required for the public employee to perform his duties.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides stressed “the importance of joint cooperation and the necessity of continuous coordination and communication and working to develop a joint plan to ensure the implementation of the agreed-upon projects. The depth of the Libyan-Italian relations was also stressed and the sectoral cooperation contributes significantly and positively to consolidating the bonds of relations between the two countries.” .
The meeting was attended by the Libyan Ambassador to Italy, Muhannad Younis, and the Ministry’s Directors of International Cooperation and Digital Transformation, Shadia Oreibi and Abu Bakr Hudoud.
