Dubai – The Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, had, on the sidelines of COP28 in Dubai, a meeting with the German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Jochen Fiasbarth, focusing on means to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fight against climate change.

During this meeting, held on Sunday at the Morocco Pavilion, the two parties discussed the consolidation of their ties, particularly in terms of energy transition, the preservation of water resources and food security.

In a statement to MAP, Mr. Baraka indicated that this meeting was an opportunity to discuss German support for the Kingdom and the strengthening of relations between the two countries in the fight against climate change.

“We also discussed the momentum for reconstruction in areas affected by the earthquake in the Al-Haouz region, particularly in rural areas,” he said.

For his part, the German federal minister welcomed the “good” cooperative relations uniting the two countries, particularly in the specific field of energy and water resources management.

“We have a long and very good cooperation,” he said, adding that the two countries recently held government negotiations on a support program for water management, an essential pillar of bilateral cooperation. .

He recalled, in this regard, that the Moroccan and German governments have just established an alliance on climate and energy involving several ministries of the two countries.
