COP29, due to its international significance, will bring additional dividends to Azerbaijan.
Political scientist Ilyas Huseynov told Trend about this on Friday, Day.Az reports.
He noted that COP29 will be attended by heads of state and government, heads of think tanks specializing in environmental protection and climate change issues. “They will also get acquainted with the work carried out in our country in these areas. The COP29 event also has great political significance. By hosting this event, our country will further strengthen its international authority. The numerous events that we hold in the field of culture and sports have formed a very positive opinion about our country. “Green economy”, “green energy”, the steps we are taking in these areas will also be in the spotlight of the whole world,” Huseynov said.
The expert emphasized that the President of Azerbaijan declared the territories liberated from occupation a “green energy zone.” “Renewable energy projects are being implemented in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur. Our country is investing in wind and solar energy projects. International investors are also cooperating with our country in this direction. The created “green corridor” Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania- is also of exceptional importance. Hungary,” he said.
Huseynov added that the whole world will see that Azerbaijan, being a traditional oil and gas country, determines and directs trends in the field of alternative energy.
It should be noted that the decision to host COP29 in Azerbaijan was officially announced in Dubai on December 11, 2023. Azerbaijan will host this event in November this year.
